A Centurion Celebration
If you ever had the pleasure of meeting Springbok Centurion Percy Montgomery or Monty as he is fondly referred to, you will know he has a passion for two things, Rugby and kicking back with good friends.
On 16 August 2008 Monty made history as the first Springbok to play 100 test matches, giving heart and soul to his adopted country South Africa. He ended his career on 102 test matches for the mighty Springboks. Monty is a true testament of any South African boy’s dream growing up.
Today we are dedicated to celebrating a century worth of memories with good friends around the world.
When this business opportunity arrived, we wanted to create a complex and sippable libation that can take its rightful place among the finest premium whiskeys and cognacs. The brand having an impact on sport development was an important focus point for us from the start and we also wanted to partner with authentic people, each committed to their craft, from the local farmers in the beautiful Karoo to the natural and organic product development stage and sustainability program at our distillery and finally the end-result – the sales and marketing process and of course the fun part of tastings with our distribution partners.
Our brand ethos is our love for rugby and relaxed Camps Bay beach way of life, so it was an obvious choice to introduce these aspects that is prominent in our brand identity.

The name of the EL CENTURION 102 brand itself holds significance and is steeped in rich South African Rugby tradition and history. The gold rugby ball of our logo symbolizes dreams, hard work, dedication, pride and ultimate achievement. The burst of golden light over the rugby ball signifies gratification, deserved pride and special memories that can today be shared with friends over sundowners.

With every bottle of El Centurion 102 sold, we donate R10 of revenue to
The SACS Percy Montgomery Foundation.
The Foundation’s purpose is to provide funding to develop the game of rugby at both SACS Junior and SACS High, and to provide funding for rugby bursaries. Funding generated by the Foundation will primarily be allocated to such bursaries, but the Foundation’s belief in education means funding will not be restricted to rugby players only, and allowance has been made to improve the intellectual capital of rugby masters who coach and administer the game, and boys whose involvement in rugby extends beyond playing the game.
